First Teams Qualify for ISA Yachtsman euromarine Rib Challenge Final.
The 1st Regional Final was held at Clontarf Yacht & Boat Club last Sunday and it saw an exciting start to the competition.
This Regional Final saw a lot of 1st none more than the 1st running of the Junior Class. Teams were excited and nervous of what the competition laid in store for them. But there was no need for them to worry.
They had to carry out 4 tasks.
1) Each Team Member tie 2 Knots,
2) Throw a Rescue Line.
3) Answer Nautical Theory Questions
4) Helm & Crew a Tiller engine Boat around a set course.
All these tasks were carried out with enthusiasm and in a very professional manner.
Scoring was tight and in the end the first Junior Regional ISA Yachtsman euromarine Rib Challenge was won on home soil by CYBC.
1st : CYBC Harry Cronin, Jennifer Lonergan & Andrew Heney.
2nd IYSC Leah Flanagan, Elly Nuzum & Aoife O Neill
3rd CYBC R O Donoghue, H Tunney, C O Reilly.
The Senior Team Competition was just as exciting an affair which saw some rivalry between the two teams the Royal St George had entered and of course the local CYBC team were not going to make it easy for any team to beat them at Home.
As the day went on it was clear that the teams were equally matched and the trailer handling competition really saw team sprit and tactics at play.
But in the end there had to be a winner.
1st Royal St George Yacht Club, Troy McNamara, Ken Fitzpatrick & Denis English
2nd CYBC P Clohisey, G Stirling & B O Donohgue.
3rd RSGYC P Ferguson, Alex Ferguson & A Ferguson.
Next Regional Final will be held in Youghal with Aquatrek as hosts on 29th August. Full details of competition to be found on
