#Surfing - Irish-Australian surfer Mick Fanning has vowed to get back on his board after his close call with a shark off the South African coast last week.
According to The Irish Times, the surfing champ has already resumed paddling out to the surf near his home in northern New South Wales just days after video of him fighting off a shark at the J-Bay Open went viral on the internet, attracting multiple millions of views in a matter of days.
Though some have disputed Fanning and the media's account of the incident last weekend, the surfer himself maintains it was a "miracle" that he survived unscathed.
The news of Fanning's return to the water comes after a woman saw her father killed by a "very large" shark elsewhere in Australia.
As the Irish Examiner reports, the attack happened on Saturday 25 July close to where a 15ft great white shark was spotted mere hours before off the Tasmanian coast.
It's now believed that the same shark may have attacked a diver the day before, with the Irish Mirror reporting comments from Wade Cleary describing the giant predator's ram from behind "like being hit by a bus".
