RTÉ Provide New Marine Weather Outlook Service

RTÉ Provide New Marine Weather Outlook Service
RTÉ and Met Éireann have joined forces for a new weekly Marine Outlook weather broadcast on RTÉ television. Friday night is the timeslot, after the Late News on RTÉ 1 and will be useful to the recreational boating community in plannng weekend activities, regattas, courses, etc. Met Éireann say the outlook will cover the next five or six days: however, it should not be considered a forecast.

Their latest forecast, including all developments subsequent to the broadcast of the TV outlook, are of course included in the routine Sea Area Forecast broadcast every 6 hours on RTÉ Radio 1 and by Irish Coast Guard on Marine VHF. This is, and remains, the definitive service for mariners.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
