#greystonesharbour – A fleet of over 100 are expected for this weekend's Greystones SC Taste of Greystones Cruiser regatta off the Wicklow coast. Now in its third year there will be four starts: for Cruisers 1, 2 and 3, and White Sails. As Afloat.ie previously reported, this weekend's season climax for Wicklow sailors includes the East Coast Championships for Cruisers 2 & 3 and a visiting ISORA fleet.
Flor O'Driscoll's 'Hard on Port' will defend the Class 3 title with competition coming from an in-form 'Cri Cri' (Paul Colton), RIYC's 'Supernova' and some local talent in the shape of Graham Noonan's Formula 28 'Flash'.
Class 2 competitors will be challenging the recently crowned Half Ton Cup Champion Checkmate (Dave Cullen).
Two races will be held on Saturday afternoon for the East Coast fleet who join the 'Taste of Greystones' Regatta fleet for Sunday's finale.
Olympic race officer Jack Roy will officiate.
Two short races on Sunday starting at 11.00 will finish up in good time to sample the complimentary BJ Marine lunch and refreshments at Greystones Marina.
The €50 entry to the regatta includes your saturday night berth, vouchers for the club bar, and tokens for drinks in the Beach House as well as the sunday lunch compliments of BJ.
Entertainment will be provided in both venues on Saturday night. Saturday arrivals at the Sailing Club will be treated to complimentary burgers between 16.00 and 20.00.
Those arriving on friday or saturday morning are also welcome to compete in the Class 2 and 3 cruiser championships, (through a seperate entry fee), which will commence on Saturday with two races starting at 13.30 and finish as part of the Taste of Greystones event on Sunday.
Feeder races from Poolbeg, Bray, Wicklow and Arklow are already confirmed as well as the ISORA fleet race which will arrive on Saturday evening and participate in Sunday's events.
