The pair now sit in ninth overall after a day of racing in winds not exceeding seven knots on the Yellow Sea. Race two was the heavier of the two, and O'Leary Milne languished in second last at one stage, picking up several places on the last run to finish 12th in the 16-boat fleet.
Race two was better for the Irish, with a seventh place finish leaving them just six points behind their British training partner, former medallist Iain Percy, in ninth position.
Meanwhile, the Olympic games are over for 470 duo Ger Owens and Phil Lawton, who posted two mid-teen results today, finishing in 15th and 13th respectively in the first of three races today. Currently lying 25th in their last race, the medal race is out of reach for the Dun Laoghaire pairing, who lie in 15th in the overall standings.
Finn sailor Tim Goodbody is also out of the running, ending his first Olympics in 21st place overall. Goodbody is likely to feature prominently in Ireland's preparations for the 2012 Olympics in Weymouth.
Meanwhile, Laser Radial sailor Ciara Peelo logged a consistent 13th in today's only race so far, but will be disappointed having spent half the race inside the top ten. A large gap split the fleet on the second beat, with the top four stretching their legs and opening up a three-minute gap on the majority of the trailing fleet by the start of the next downwind leg.
Peelo has five races to climb into the top ten and qualify for the medal race, while the Star campaigners have seven races remaining.
