21st August 2008

World champion Mike Hart crewed by Richard Riggs of England opened his account with two wins in yesterday's opening races of the Flying fifteen European championships at Kinsale YC that is so far dominated by British entries.

Strangford Lough's Darren Martin and Simon Murray lead the Irish challenge in ninth place after yesterday's racing in 12-14 knot south westerly breezes. Second overall is sailmaker Alan Bax of Northampton with the heaviest crew in the regatta Bill Masterman weighing in at 117kg. Former world champion Barry Parkin of Hayling Island SC crewed by Tim Hall lie third. Next best of the Irish is another Northern Ireland crew Bryan Willis and John McPeake in 19th. National Champions David Gorman and Chris Doorly from Dun Laoghaire are next in the 56 boat fleet. Lighter winds are forecast for today's third and fourth race under race officer Alan Crosbie.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
