Ardbeg RIB trip cancelled

5th September 2008

Red Bay Boats in County Antrim has cancelled its annual trip to Ardbeg distillery in Scotland for the second time this year. Postponed in May due to bad weather the RIB trip has been cancelled again this weekend. It is one of a number of boating fixtures to fall foul of easterly gales hitting the country today.

Last year Redbay Boats’ 30th Anniversary was celebrated with the annual trip to Ardbeg on Saturday 5th May. It attracted the largest gathering to date - 41 RIBs and over 200 crew.

The National YC in Dun Laoghaire has also cancelled its inaugural Corporate Cup Event due to have been sailed in the brand new fleet of J80s from the ISA sail fleet.

Update: Saturday racing has been cancelled from Dun Laoghaire as big seas and strong Northerly winds on the bay forced DBSC to cancel one of the few remaining races of the 2008 season for its 330-boat fleet.
