Entry deadlines and online innovations

9th June 2008

Final entry deadlines for ACC Bank Cork Week and the BMW Round Ireland Yacht Race expired over the weekend, but late entries in both are being accepted.

The deadline saw a slight rise in entries for the Round Ireland, bringing the tally to 35.

On the list is the giant 100-footer ICAP Leopard, owned by Mike Slade. However two notable absentees are the mooted Volvo 70 entries, owned by Limerick sailor Ger O'Rourke and the Russian Volvo Ocean Race team respectively. Although both are expected to enter, neither has yet filled out a form.

Meanwhile, in Crosshaven, the big boys are out in force, with six TP52s facing off outside Cork Harbour this summer, along with nine Farr 45s and a handful of superyachts over the 65-foot mark.

Something of note for this year's Cork Week is that the organisers have nabbed some top names for the entertainment line-up, leading to a link-up with Ticketmaster who are handling access to the 'afters'.

Paddy Casey, The Walls and Aslan are among the acts entertaining crowds off the water, with tickets available here.

Another innovation is the online merchandising, with Slam this year providing the Cork Week range. Their internet Cork Week store is here.
