RORC apologise for error

19th June 2008

Following the miscalculation of results at last weekend's British IRC championships on the Solent a short statement has been issued by the organisers, the Royal Ocean Racing Club, apologising for the error that forced Howth yacht Rosie to hand back the top prize two days after it had been awarded.

Regardless, ICRA Commodore Fintan Cairns maintains that inspite of the error the 1,2.3 secured is nevertheless a great result for Irish cruisers.

The RORC statement reads:

Important  - Amendment to Results

Our attention has been drawn to an error in the application of the formula to select the overall winner of the IRC National Championships. This changes the results as follows:

IRC National Champion - Conor and Denise Phelan’s, Ker 37, JUMP JUICE  - 0.63 points

2nd overall and winner of the Jackdaw Trophy - Eamonn Rohan’s, King 40, BLONDIE IV – 0.63 points

3rd overall - David Nixon’s, Corby 26, ROSIE - 0.65 points

The RORC apologies to all concerned for any inconvenience caused.
