#rnli – Lifeboat crew with Rosslare RNLI launched yesterday afternoon to a 42ft yacht with two people onboard after the vessel became entangled in lobster pots close to Carnsore Point.
Conditions this afternoon were described as showery with a south westerly wind force 4/5. On arrival at the scene the Rosslare all-weather lifeboat crew launched their Y boat, the small inflatable boat kept onboard the lifeboat for close contact with another vessel or the shoreline, and proceeded to the stranded yacht. After the ropes were freed by the lifeboat crew the yacht continued on its journey to Arklow.
Rosslare RNLI stood by the large yacht for a time after it resumed its journey to ensure it proceeded safely.
Commenting on the callout Rosslare RNLI Volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer Jamie Ryan said, 'We were happy to be able to assist after the yacht became entangled in ropes. Conditions can change suddenly out at sea and that area can be busy with marine traffic. By deploying the lifeboat's inflatable Y boat the lifeboat crew were able to provide quick and decisive action.'
