#lifeboat – Dun Laoghaire Inshore Lifeboat crew had a fast launch today and were on scene off Sandymount on Dublin Bay just 15 minutes after the pagers sounded at 1144 for two walkers and a dog cut off by the incoming tide.
The Garda Air Support Unit helicopter that was in the area landed nearby and took one person on board while the ILB approached. However the shallow water meant the ILB volunteer crew had to walk the remaining 0.25 mile distance so the Irish Coast Guard Rescue 116 heli also landed and took the second person and dog on board.
All casualties were un-injured in the incident. Sandymount Strand has various sandbanks which can be deceptive during incoming tides that can cut off walkers from the shore in a short space of time.
