#RNLI - Portrush RNLI and lifeguards at Portstewart Strand worked together yesterday (Sunday 9 August) to help a person who got into difficulty on a jetski.
Portstewart lifeguards were first called to assist the jetski but because of the large sea swell, they advised the coastguard to request the launch of Portrush RNLI to assist.
The all-weather lifeboat launched at 6pm and quickly arrived on scene. The volunteer lifeboat crew passed the tow rope to the RNLI lifeguards who then attached it to the jetski.
- lifeboat crew then transferred the casualty onto the lifeboat and commenced the tow back to Portrush Harbour. The casualty was unharmed.
- Speaking following the callout, Portrush RNLI lifeboat operations manager Robin Cardwell said: "This is another great example of the RNLI services working together on the North Coast, with both the lifeboat crew and the lifeguards being able to put their skills and training to good use."
