5th August 2015
Marine Notice: Survey, Rock Placement On Corrib Gas Pipeline

#MarineNotice - Mariners on the west coast are advised of latest round of works on the Corrib Gas Pipeline.

Phase 1 of the annual pipeline and umbilical survey was scheduled to begin between last week and early this month, and involves the lay of a new flowline and control umbilical between wells P2 and P5 followed by connection at each end, testing and commissioning.

Phase 2 works are scheduled to commence upon completion of Phase 1, running till mid September, and involve acoustic and visual survey of the pipeline and umbilical using equipment deployed from an ROV.

The vessel Normand Reach (Callsign 2HMG8) will work both phases, with the guard vessel Glomar Arctic (Callsign H09083) on site in the Corrib field from tomorrow (6 August) to late September.

Radio warnings will be given to all marine traffic in the immediate area. Details of co-ordinates are included in Marine Notice No 37 of 2015, a PDF of which is available to read or download HERE.

Marine Notice 38 of 2015 also details that rock placement works over the newly installed flowline and umbilical between wells P2 and P5, as well as placements as deemed necessary after the Phase 2 survey, will be conducted by the vessel Nordnes (Callsign PHOG).

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
