Tiamat wins in Cork Harbour

5th October 2009
Tiamat wins in Cork Harbour

In a weekend that saw 200 boats afloat in Cork Harbour it was the first race of Royal Cork's annual October league that grabbed the headlines. 90 boats came to the line for a two race day, in a format that is to be adopted for next July's Cork Week. Winds were disappointingly light but that did not stop members heaping praise on their own event. Bob Bateman's photos here.

An obvious sign that Ireland is still chasing the Commodore's Cup was the presence of three ICRA team-mates and some of the clubs heavy hitters on board. Mark Mansfield helmed Tiamat to victory in IRC 0 in both races with Dave Dwyer's Mariner's Cove and Blondie V also afloat. Results here.
