Decision 'imminent' on Asgard II

30th January 2009

A Parliamentary Question (QUESTION NO: 132) from David Stanton TD today asked the Minister for Defence about his plans to proceed with a salvage operation on the Asgard II; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Minister for Defence (Mr. Willie O’Dea T.D.,) replied that No final decision in relation to the salvage of Asgard II has been made. "However, I will make my decision following consultation with the board of Coiste an Asgard. I can assure the Deputy that a decision is imminent", the minister said. An Afloat petition to raise the Asgard is underway. Click here to join the hundreds of names already online.
