Ireland took one medal on the first full day of the Coupe de la Jeunesse, a European junior championships, at Vichy in France. The men’s quadruple of Shane O’Driscoll, Peter Grogan, Jonathan Mitchell and Paul O’Donovan collected bronze behind winners Britain and second-placed Poland. O’Donovan, remarkably, is only 15 years of age. Ireland finished fifth in the women’s eight on Friday.
