Casey Fifth in World Champs Heat
Sean Casey finished fifth in his heat at the World Rowing Championships in Poznan in Poland.  He will compete in the repechages on Tuesday to seek a place in Thursday’s A/B Semi-Finals. Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand, the reigning world champion and bronze medallist at the Beijing Olympics, won today’s race and secured the direct qualification spot for the semi-finals.

Day One (Irish interest) Men’s Single Scull – Heat Three (First Direct to Semi-Finals; rest to Repechages): Direct Qualifiers: Heat One: Norway (O Tufte) 6:56.45. Heat Two: Britain (A Campbell) 6:54.15; Heat Four: Belgium (T Maeyens) 6:57.78.
