Four Ireland crews will compete in A Finals on the second day of the Coupe de la Jeunesse in Szeged in Hungary.
The junior quadruple of Colm Hennessy, Eoghan Whittle, Patrick Munnelly and Andrew Goff finished second in a close heat – less than a second covered the Netherlands, who won, and Austria, who were third. There were also second places for the junior women’s double of Emily Hegarty and Aoife Casey and for Dervla Forde, in the junior women’s single.
The junior women’s pair missed out on the A Final: they finished fourth in their heat, with just three going through. The junior men’s pair of Barney Rix and Aaron Johnson had no heat this morning, going directly to the A Final.
The men’s double of Shane O’Connell and Ronan Byrne finished fifth in their heat and will compete in the B Final.
