3rd September 2015
All Ireland Inter-Schools Team Sailing Event At Sutton Dinghy Club

#schoolsailing – Sutton Dinghy Club on Dublin Bay will be running its ever popular All Ireland Inter-Schools team sailing event on weekend of Sep12/13.

Now in its 40th year, the event attracts up to 160+ sailors and 120 boats across both an Optimist (40 boats max) and Mixed Fleets (80 boats max) with the latter probably the largest PY event run in Ireland.

The event attracts school teams from all across Ireland with regularly over 30 schools represented. The inaugural winners were Belvedere College and they have been regular visitors and winners over the years.

This unique event affords the opportunity for Club sailors and Irelands foremost junior performance sailors sail together as part of a school team. Over the years the likes of Annalise Murphy, Scott Flanigan, David Burrows, Dougie Elmes, Diane Kissane, Robert Dickson and Ger Owens all represented their schools in this event.

Last year St Fintans Sutton won after many years knocking on the door. Schools from Sligo, Kilkenny, Wexford and Westmeath have also featured on the podium in recent times.

The Entry Forms are available to download below or call the Club on 01-8393135

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
