#Rowing: Ireland’s Sinead Jennings and Claire Lambe finished fourth, just over half a second off an A Final place in the semi-finals of the World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette in France this morning. They looked well set for qualification with 500 metres to go, second behind leaders South Africa, with Denmark third. Canada upset this order with a blistering final quarter, which saw them win, with South Africa and Denmark taking the other A Final places.
Paul O’Donovan and Gary O’Donovan finished fifth in their semi-final of the lightweight double sculls and will also go to the B Final. The young Skibbereen men pushed up into contention in the third quarter, but could not hold this. They won a battle for fifth with China.
