O'Driscoll and O'Donovan in Battle with Britain

6th May 2017

#Rowing: Ireland’s Shane O’Driscoll and Mark O’Donovan finished second in the race for lanes for tomorrow's final of the lightweight men’s pair at the World Cup Regatta in Belgrade. The contest turned into a battle between Ireland and the Britain crew of Joel Cassells, a Bann oarsman who rowed for Ireland as a junior, and Sam Scrimgeour. O’Driscoll and O’Donovan set the pace and led through 500 metres and the 1,000 metre mark – but only just. Britain took over the lead and won by 2.31 seconds.
