#Rowing: Sanita Puspure finished fifth in the final of the women’s single sculls at the World Cup Regatta in Belgrade today. The race split in two from before half way, as Jeanine Gmelin of Switzerland zoomed away from the rest; she had seven seconds to spare over second-placed Victoria Thornley at 1500 metres. Thornley took silver in a close fight with Magdalena Lobnig of Austria, while Ekaterina Karsten was fourth. Puspure hung on to fifth throughout and covered the last 500 metres fastest of the six crews.
