Viking Marine Operating Online: Supplying the Boating Parts & Equipment You Need

In response to yesterday’s Government Covid-19 announcement, Viking Marine has made further changes to ensure the safety of our customers and team writes Ian O'Meara.

While staying at home and working on boats we wish to ensure you have the parts and equipment you need and for anyone going on the water where social distancing is achievable, they have all the safety kit they need.

As of today, we will close our shop in Dun Laoghaire and we continue to operate online. We will operate a collection service from the shop and local delivery service to the yacht clubs. (Details below)

Never before has the term 'uncharted waters' been so true as we are surely in them now. While the sailing season has been disrupted we in Viking Marine support the importance of essential mental health and our boats and our ocean have a big part to play in this. So if you are working on your boat and in need of supplies to get your boat ready we are here for you.

Let us help keep our young sailors on the water where social distancing is achievable. So for any parts, especially safety equipment, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

If it is a rope to make a swing in the garden or to make up a new dog lead we will put the pack together for you.

For the creative ones who want to make friendship bracelets or rope plant pot hangers we have the supplies and be sure to send us pictures of your creativity.

I wish to extend an enormous 'Thank You' to Dean and all the team here in Viking Marine for their loyalty positivity and determination to ride through this storm, and that is exactly what we plan to do.

To our colleagues in essential retail, we say 'Thank You' for keeping your doors open, you have our appreciation and our respect.

To you our loyal and valued customers we look forward to welcoming you all back during the summer months and getting you all out on the water again.

Ian O’ Meara

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
