Host club sailors Ewen Barry and Sandy Rimmington defended their Monkstown Bay Sailing Club Dash for Cash Trophy on Saturday (May 18), picking up the €300 prize after a tight finish in Monkstown Creek against two single-handed ILCAs.

The duo sailed a Fireball dinghy for this year's win over a course that was not without its difficulties. The 2024 fleet sailed a course with a beat up to a laid mark off Rushbrooke and a run cum reach up Rafeen Creek where the wind became flukey. From there it was out again to another mark and a beat again to Rushbrooke.

As regular Afloat readers know, the cash is not the only prize for Barry and Rimmington this season, they debuted at a bumper Fireball Munster championships in April on home waters and took first prize.
