On the Forum: Do VHF radios need licenses?

Forum:Aleria57 says instead of raising the fees and thus reducing the usage of VHF radios, the state should consider enabling people to freely use VHF and SSB transceivers, as is the case in the United States. There is praise for our new racing rules of sailing section but did the guy in the purple lifejacket need to do his turns? Gordon Davies gives a view. Wandering Aengus says the Carlise Pier would make a great boat park...or even a car park. What about salt on the windscreen? If the SB3s go to Garda there'll be none left for Cork Week. Approaches have been made to the powers that be to invite the Mini Transat 6.50M class to join the Round Ireland as a double-handed one-design class. We want your contribution too! We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
