On The Forum: Give us an Idea & win a Hat, Team Racing and the Turkey Shoot

On Afloat's Irish Boating Forum this week: IRLontop says Irish college Firefy sailors are so fast that the Scottish organisers had to rewrite the rules to prevent Ireland winning. Skipper says that the sight of 50-plus cruisers in the sunshine during the Dublin Bay Turkey Shoot was a sight for sore eyes – see over the fold for more!

The visual treats continued, according to Wandering Aengus, when the dinghies came out to show off to the pier walkers; and Hammer thinks team racing talents would improve at a faster rate if all team racers could join up and race together. And Yacht Stations – Steve says these small floating jetties would provide safe moorings for visitors. He’s got some other ideas too about what we can do to develop our coastline. Submit your idea and win a Helly Hansen woolly hat! 568 votes have been cast and MarinersCove has a big lead in the in Afloat’s poll so far to find who should win ICRA Boat of the Year. But is the shortlist extensive enough? Where is Blondie? asks Sailorlad

Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open. is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
