We picked up on a new blog out there this last week, belonging to one Mike Perham, who's trying to become the youngest ever person to circumnavigate the globe non-stop.
He's writing daily(ish) missives from his nav station, and the loose and honest vibe of his posts makes for great reading.
His boat, TotallyMoney.com, is a chartered Open 50 which won the Route du Rhum in 2002 - a powerful piece of kit for a 16-year-old. Nonetheless, he seems to have a level head on his shoulders.
He's clearly loving the testing sailing so far, and the attention he's getting from the ladies - he regularly answers questions from emailers on his blog.
"Hello to all Year 4 girls in Derwent Lodge! And to the class from Eindhoven – do send me your questions, I’ll be happy to answer."
Some nice little doohickeys on his site, too, including a Google Maps marker for tracking his position, and plenty of info about him and the boat. Worth a read, particularly for all the wannabe short-handers out there nowadays.
Markham Out.
