The Importance of Boat Batteries Revealed in RNLI Statistics

As the 2023 sailing and boating season gets into full swing, I’ve spent quite a bit of time over the past week getting my boat ready for launching and discussing safety on the water with fellow boat owners.

A safety statistic which does not often get specifically mentioned was brought to my attention by the RNLI during a discussion about the number of call-outs they dealt with last season, and I learned about the importance of looking after boat batteries.

Yachts and motorboats accounted for 370 calls for help to the RNLI.
