MGM Boats Celebrate Lagoon Catamaran 40th Birthday With 'Exclusive Days' Display in Bordeaux
Ireland's MGM Boats, a leading boat broker, is all set to celebrate its 15-year partnership with French yacht builder Lagoon Catamarans. The year 2024 will be extra special for the boat builder as it marks 40 years of production. In honour of these milestones, MGM Boats is promoting a special weekend event called 'Exclusive Days', where visitors can see the wide range of catamarans on display in Bordeaux.
The event is scheduled to take place from 6th to 9th March 2024 and will offer an opportunity to discover a wide range of catamaran models. The Lagoon 40, Lagoon 42, Lagoon 46, Lagoon 51, Lagoon 55, Lagoon 60, Sixty 5, Seventy 7 and Sixty 7 are set to be on display.
MGM Boats has been representing the Lagoon Catamarans brand in Ireland for the past 15 years and has built a reputation for providing high-quality boats to its customers. The partnership has been successful, with Lagoon Catamarans being one of the most popular catamaran brands in Ireland.
As regular Afloat readers know, Afloat has been charting the Lagoon story on Afloat.ie right back to when WM Nixon declared the Lagoon 52 Catamaran was Irish sailing's shining white hope in 2014. In 2018, the same author charted an Irish couple's dream retirement cruise on a Lagoon Catamaran, and in 2021, MGM launched the Lagoon 55 in Ireland.
The 'Exclusive Days' promotion is expected to attract a lot of visitors, who will have the opportunity to see the latest models and designs from Lagoon Catamarans. The event promises to be a great opportunity for anyone interested in boating to see the latest trends in the industry, as well as to celebrate the success of MGM Boats and Lagoon Catamarans.

MGM Boats Offer Pre-Season Deals on Sun Odyssey Models
The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey range consists of 5 performance-orientated family cruisers ranging from 35 – 49ft. All models have a sleek, modern design and offer excellent performance without losing any of the comfort and usability we’ve come to expect from the brand.
MGM Boats are running a unique promotion this year, combining a ‘pre-season’ and ‘leap year’ discount on selected models. The Sun Odyssey 380 and Sun Odyssey 410 are the focus of the promotion, running from the 14th of February to the 17th of March 2024. Purchasing ‘pre-season’ offers sailors not only a significant cash discount but lots of additional benefits, which MGM Boats would like to highlight.
In the first place purchasing early allows a new owner plenty of time to organise the logistics of ownership – something MGM are happy to help with. This could be anything from insurance or berthage to sailing courses or VHF Radio Licences.
Getting on the water in early Spring gives sailors the opportunity to learn their boat and get comfortable with it before the true boating season begins, leaving the full summer free for cruising, racing, and just enjoying time on the water with family and friends.
An early start will also enable new owners to get some tuition on their boat (available through MGM) so they can be confident and ready for warmer weather.
The March – April period is a perfect opportunity for new owners to make their boats their own should they want to, with customisations and additions. This could be as simple as adding personal cushions and linen or as technical as installing TVs or cockpit enclosures. Existing owners will attest that trying to get work done on a boat mid-season is not easy. Having the time for pre-season makes things more feasible.
The Sun Odyssey 380 and the Sun Odyssey 410 are on display now at MGM’s base in Dun Laoghaire. The boats are water-ready; they are just waiting for an owner. There are trade-in and finance options available, and the pre-season deal is a genuinely significant cash discount taken off the retail price of the boat. Contact [email protected] , 01-2802020 or call in to the MGM Office to get more information. It’s already time to start thinking about the coming season! Get ahead now!
MGM Boats Breaks New Ground with Jeanneau Sun Odyssey Lineup at Dusseldorf Boat Show
Sailors will be familiar with the Sun Odyssey range from Jeanneau. For over 30 years, these boats have populated marinas and have been widely enjoyed by families and club racers alike. What started with the Sun Odyssey 36 back in 1989 is now a range of 5 modern and sleek cruisers, the newest of which is launching this January at the Dusseldorf Boat Show.
The new Sun Odyssey 350, designed by Marc Lombard, will take over from the hugely successful SO349, the best-selling monohull in Ireland and the best-selling boat in its class worldwide. Also in the range is the flagship SO490, the 440, the 410 and the 380, the latter pair being on display now at MGM Boats in Dun Laoghaire.
Sun Odysseys are a staple of MGM Boats, with over 600 units sold since 2000. Whether in Malahide or Dun Laoghaire, Crosshaven or Carrickfergus, you will see various models bearing the MGM Boats sticker in marinas nationwide.
The 410, in particular, has received rave reviews since its launch in 2019 and has proven to be a well-suited package for the Irish market.
Designed from the ground up to be a performance-oriented family cruiser, the 410 is available with multiple layouts, rigging, keel, and sail plans. There is a specification to suit everyone. In terms of design, Marc Lombard has excelled in bringing the latest innovative solutions to the boat, maximising performance and usability.
On the exterior, you will notice the subtly raked reverse bow, which adds crucial length to the waterline and allows for a sharp wave-piercing prow, increasing both efficiency and sea-keeping. Furthermore, the sharp running chine along the entire length of the hull provides stability when stationary and hugely increases performance when heeled over. At a roll angle of around 12 degrees, the running chine increases the waterline to that of a 46ft boat and she really takes off.
The innovations continue on deck. The 410 incorporates the revolutionary ‘walk-around’ cockpit, meaning there is no coaming or furniture to step over when moving around the boat. This also enables the helmsman to steer from the extremity of the beam, port and starboard. The fold-down swim platform, hydraulic on MGM’s demo boat, opens the cockpit to the sea and totally changes the comfort and space levels when at anchor or in light conditions. The cockpit table, with its folding leaves, is slightly offset, further aiding movement through the boat.
Inside you have 3 well-appointed cabins, a large galley and a vast saloon dining area. The central chaise-longe is an excellent spot to relax and offers wine storage underneath. The galley is among the largest in its class, yet it does not subtract from the rest of the cabin. It’s great to see a full-size chart table on a modern boat, and the master cabin forward will leave even the most committed land-lobbers with little to complain about. It features an island bed with a proper innerspring mattress, ample wardrobe space and a discreet combined vanity sink/dresser. These features are made possible by Lombard’s exceptional hull design with its near-vertical hull sides, giving more volume inside.
The 410 and the complete Jeanneau lineup will be on display in Hall 16 at the Dusseldorf Boat Show from 20th – 28th January and there will be excellent deals available.

MGM Boats Promises ‘Something for Everyone’ as it Celebrates 15 Years at boot Düsseldorf This January
January 2024 will mark 15 years since MGM Boats’ first appearance at boot Düsseldorf, the world’s largest boat and water sports fair.
That’s 15 years of developing contacts, clients, and a glowing reputation — with Germany and Northern Europe now being one of the Dun Laoghaire-based brokers' strongest export markets for new and used boats.
“We get the best results for clients who are seriously selling their boats, as buyers trust us due to our reputation in Europe,” says sales director Ross O’Leary.
The end of the 2000s, when MGM first set up a stand at boot Düsseldorf, was an inauspicious time for the boat trade in Ireland and the UK. Repossessions were common in the post-crash malaise and the London Boat Show — formerly a fruitful engagement for MGM sales each New Year — was on the wane before its eventual demise in 2018.
Noting that decline and sensing an opportunity to broaden its base beyond its stalwart Irish clients, MGM Boats invested in its first stand at boot Düsseldorf in 2009, and the move has more than paid off.
The broker is now an annual fixture at what’s become the only January show for planning your summer sailing and boating season.
Indeed, “Hall 5 at 5” has become something of a buzzword as the MGM stand — in the corner of Hall 5 in Messe Düsseldorf — offers refreshments every evening at 5 pm as a unique meeting point for all Irish visitors and clients at the show.
But the boats are still the main attraction, of course, and MGM Boats promises something for everyone — starting with the latest from Jeanneau Yachts.
MGM Boats is also the exclusive Irish agent for Jeanneau, whose new Sun Odyssey 350 — the successor to the Sun Odyssey 349, currently the best-selling monohull in the Irish market — will have its world premiere at Messe Düsseldorf this January.
For cruising sailors award-winning Jeanneau Yacht 55 will be on display – YouTube walkthrough here:
For Racing Sailors, the new Sun Fast 30 One Design “2024 Sailboat of the Year” by Voile Magazine! - VPLP Design and Multiplast, this innovative, powerful, and versatile sailboat aims to make offshore sailboat racing more accessible and more sustainable.
For Motor boaters, the new Prestige F4 is the first model from the new and improved flybridge line.
Also on show will be the Prestige M48 — the first power catamaran from Prestige Yachts – a massive success in the growing Power Cat Market
Eco-friendly and electric boats from the increasingly popular Delphia range will be on display.
2024 also marks the return of the Zodiac RIB stand — MGM’s newest brand since 2020.
On display will be the Medline 7.5 GT, a boat that combines performance and elegance. The flagship of the range will accompany this: the Medline 9!
Fishing enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the PRO 7 Fishing Edition, a RIB specially designed in collaboration with expert anglers: The Medline 7.5 GT

Prestige Wins Top Awards for Two World-Premiere Yachts
Leading motor yacht marque Prestige is celebrating the win of major awards at leading boat shows in Cannes and Genoa for two yachts making their world-premiere appearances.
In the World Yachts Trophies ceremony on Saturday 16 September at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Prestige F4 — the first of the all-new generation of the F-Line — won the prize for Best Interior Design in the category of yachts from 45 to 64 feet, while the flagship Prestige M8 was declared best among Power Driven Catamarans.
The following week at the Genoa International Boat Show, the M8 was named winner of the 2023 Design Innovation Award in the Multihull category.
“Both the new Prestige F4 and flagship Prestige M8 are important milestones in the evolution of the brand today,” said Erwin Bamps, vice president of the Franco-Italian yacht builder.
“The F4 is the first model of our third-generation flybridge line-up and features many new attributes that reflect our vision for the ideal family yacht of tomorrow.
“At the same time, the multihull M8 embodies our ability to cater to a sophisticated, discerning clientele, marrying French industrial excellence and an Italian heritage of personalisable, large yacht construction at our Monfalcone shipyard.
“Being recognised for both ends of the Prestige spectrum with international awards is a beautiful accolade of our achievements.”

London Luxury Afloat
It's a busy time for the Dun Laoghaire brokers, as they also exhibit next week at the London Luxury Afloat Show.
Launched in April 2022, the show is a showcase event bringing the most luxurious sail and motor yachts on the market to the heart of London at St. Katharine Docks. Created by British Marine, organisers of the Southampton International Boat Show, the Show will feature well-appointed sailing, motor, and superyachts from leading brands, including the Irish broker.
This past weekend at boot Düsseldorf was a big one for Dun Laoghaire-based agents MGM Boats, with the world premiere of Jeanneau’s new DB/37 and the launch of the electric Delphia 10 Lounge — as well as the reveal of the new flagship of Prestige’s M-Line in the M8.
Following the M48, the first in the M-Line that was launched last year, the multihull M8 promises an unprecedented experience: to live in perfect harmony with the sea on smooth, serene cruises, more respectful of the environment with a reduced fuel consumption.
The M8 also aims to redefine the onboard experience with a living area of more than 270 sq m “unequalled in its category” and twin hulls ensuring natural stability and excellent seaworthiness.
“The M8, flagship of the M-Line by Prestige, represents the quintessence of our savoir-faire in terms of design, elegance, and fit and finish,” says Erwin Bamps, vice president of Prestige.
“I would like to underscore the unique character of Prestige, the only Franco-Italian yacht builder in the world, today, combining the French mastery of serial production and Italian heritage in large yacht construction.”
While remaining faithful to Prestige’s identity, the M8 features a distinctive hull, designed from the start uniquely for a motor yacht.
The result is a multihull that is less wide but taller than a sailing catamaran, offering unequalled surface area and dimensions, which Prestige says is never before seen in existing monohulls and multihulls on the market.
“The M8 is a true villa on the sea,” says its designer, Camillo Garroni. “The layout, living spaces, ease of movement and safety on board have been designed to optimise the experience of the owners and their family.”
Discover new horizons, get closer to nature and reconnect with yourself and others in a spacious, refined, bright environment with the M8 from Prestige. There’s more on the Prestige website — and if you’re at boot Düsseldorf this week, meet the team from MGM Boats for details.
The new electric-first Delphia 10 Lounge enjoyed its official launch at boot Düsseldorf on Sunday morning (22 January).
Similar to the D10 LoungeTop which was unveiled last November by the ‘mindful cruising’ brand, the Delphia 10 Lounge boasts an open cockpit with up to 12 seating positions so even more can get together for fun and relaxing times.
While the focus is on short retreats along city canals and other inland waterways, weather conditions can still change quickly — which prompted the design of a complete cockpit enclosure protect those on board from the elements.
And down below, the spacious interior with up to four sleeping berths and a bathroom is the perfect set-up for a night onboard when the evening trip goes a little further.
In the propulsion department, once again Delphia has partnered with marine e-mobility specialists Torqueedo to equip the Delphia 10 Lounge with an 80hp Deep Blue electric motor, offering three different configurations of electric propulsion. And like the LoungeTop, it also comes with a diesel option with reduced-emission engines from Yanmar.
Express your interest in the Delphia 10 Lounge with recently appointed Irish agents MGM Boats at [email protected] — and meet them this week at boot Düsseldorf to see more the boat at Hall 1, Stand B/16.
Jeanneau’s New DB/37 Premieres at boot Düsseldorf
Jeanneau expands its DB Yachts line with the new DB/37, which had its world premiere at boot Düsselforf on Saturday 21 January.
Benefiting from all the savoir-faire and creativity of Jeanneau, the DB/37 is available in inboard and outboard versions and features a streamlined silhouette designed by Camillo Garroni, with a distinctive personality.
This new model perfectly represents the DB Yachts line, upholding the core principles that made the DB/43 a success.
The deck plan privileges exterior space and easy movement on board, and while at anchor, side terraces can extend the cockpit toward the sea.
Faithful to the promise of the DB Yachts line, “More than you expect”, the DB/37 seduces all those adept at cruising with private living spaces and a refined interior, unique aboard a day boat.
Inviting and protective, the DB/37 is designed for you to fully benefit from the sea, to experience and share unforgettable moments. A true party boat, with an optimal interior layout, she also offers the possibility of extended stays onboard — and all of this with the stylish allure of elegant lines.
