Belfast’s iconic Titanic Studios — which hosted filming for Games of Thrones — is now on the market for an undisclosed sum, as the Belfast Telegraph reports.

US TV giant HBO, which licensed use of the three-acre studio site on the Belfast Waterfront at the edge of Harland & Wolff’s historic shipyards, issued notice earlier this year that it no longer requires the facilities.

Filming on the eighth and final series of Game of Thrones wrapped in 2018. But hopes were high for continued success the following year, with the shooting of a pilot for a prequel series at the Belfast studio where the River Lagan meets Belfast Lough.

However, that show was scrapped in late 2019 in favour of an alternative prequel series that was shot in England. Titanic Studios have lain dormant since.

Property consultants Riddell McKibbin, which are handling the sale, describe the property as “a once-in-a-lifetime investment opportunity for any purchaser and so we would not expect this to remain on the market for long”.
