The above development plan (buildings marked in red by campaigners Save Bulloch Harbour) who Afloat add are to discuss at a public meeting on Tuesday 23 January (7.30pm) in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire. Western Marine sold the premises in 2016, however the business remains operating to include a sales office located in nearby Glenageary.

Lecture on Dun Laoghaire Harbour where construction of the first pier began in 1817. Afloat adds that originally plans for the 'Asylum Harbour' consisted of a single pier but this was revised to include a second pier to form the harbour's West and East Pier (above). It was during construction of the harbour that George IV paid a visit to the town.This led to an officially renaming to Kingstown in 1821 in honour of the British monarch's visit. A centenary later the town reverted to its ancient Irish name by resolution of the town council in 1921.
