Migrant Refugees Rescued off Libya by Irish Navy

#navy - Naval Service Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) LÉ William Butler Yeats has rescued 41 migrants during two separate search and rescue operations in the Mediterranean yesterday, 2 September.

RTE News reports that the search and rescue was request from the Italian Maritime Rescue Co-Ordination Centre. The led to the Irish naval vessel locate and rescue the migrants during the two operations off the coast of Libya.

The operations began at 11.35am and the migrants were taken on board the OPV LÉ William Butler Yeats.

They are receiving food, water and medical treatment where required.
