The UK Chamber of Shipping is to bring leading and developing shipping nations to discuss barriers to trade in a meeting today, that sets to replicate the G7 event to be held this week in Carbis Bay, Cornwall.

The maritime meeting matches the list for the G7 nations and is titled the ‘M7’ which will also discuss improving collaboration on green R&D projects.

Asides the host nation of the M7, representatives participating will be Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Africa, South Korea and the United States. The nations will join the virtual meeting taking place at 1300 (BST) and will begin by looking at advancements in digitising trade.

The M7 members will encouraged to share their experience of national digital trade initiatives and thoughts about barriers for adoption.

The second part of the meeting will focus on green research and development projects and what initiatives the M7 members are participating in to improve decarbonisation across the shipping industry

M7 members will be encouraged to share experiences of coordinated research and development initiatives in their country and identify ways to better co-ordinate efforts in environmental R&D.
