St Joseph's Juniors Win in the Rain

Strengthening winds forced the suspension of rowing at a rain-sodden National Championships this afternoon, but only after the major events had been completed. Galway crews did well in the second session of the day: St Joseph’s won the junior 18 eights; NUIG’s James Wall and Dave Mannion the senior double scull; Tribesmen the women’s junior four. 

National Rowing Championships, National Rowing Centre, Cork Men Eight – Junior: 1 St Joseph’s 6:35.5, 2 Bann 6:40.2, 3 Portora 6:40.7. Four – Novice, coxed: 1 Trinity 7:19.0, 2 NUIG 7:23.1, 3 Lee 7:30.3. Sculling, Double – Senior: 1 NUIG A 7:26.8, 2 Skibbereen 7:30.0, 3 Carlow B 7:34.0. Single – Junior: 1 Skibbereen (P O’Donovan), 2 King’s Hospital (T Hughes), 3 Colaiste Iognaid (E Mullarkey).
