IMF/Lombard On the Water Boat Show 2008

29th November -0001
Lombard announce sponsorship of Ireland’s biggest water-based Boat Show once again. Currently listed as No. 2 in the Global Tourism Market, Marine activity is one of Ireland’s fastest growing leisure sectors and the Irish Marine Federation is set to capitalise on it with the Lombard On the Water Show.
A resounding success in 2006, the event, produced by the Irish Marine Federation and operated by Expo Events Ltd, is the official industry showcase for the marine leisure industry and is designed to meet the needs of the large boating public in Ireland from the simple observer to the more involved boating enthusiast. The sheer scale of this event establishes it as one of the most visually engaging showcases in the year with more than 150 boats spreading their sails across the Malahide marina varying in sizes from 10ft to an 82ft luxury cruiser and a value of the boats on display resting in excess of an estimated Euro 35million. In addition, a selection of 50 exhibitors under cover and more than 20 boats on display on the hard deck exhibiting chandlery, holidays afloat, equipment, and smaller craft, not to mention daily on the water demonstrations all indicate towards the Lombard On the Water Boat Show promising to be an event that’s second to none. Over 8,000 people visited the event when it was last held in 2006 and even more are expected to flock to Malahide this year where some of the biggest names in boating will be there for viewing including Bavaria, Beneteau, Drago, Fairline, Mastercraft, Princess, Ronautica and Sunseeker. For added excitement a programme of live demonstrations has been crafted from local team-sailing events to water-skiing and wakeboarding displays from European champions as well as RNLI safety demonstrations. Said Jimmy Connellan, Head of Lombard in Ireland, “With the success of this event in 2006, Lombard didn’t think twice about putting our name and support to it once again this year. We are very pleased to be associated with the Irish Marine Federation, a body that is synonymous with very high standards of excellence and expertise. The boat show is a perfect fit for us as longest and leading provider of marine finance in Ireland with a dedicated specialist team. In the last few years we have witnessed a greater understanding of marine finance and awareness of the benefits it offers. More and more people are opting for personalised finance packages tailored to suit their cash flow and therefore opening up this fantastic sport to so many.” Brian O’Sullivan, IMF Chairman adds, “We are delighted to welcome Lombard as title sponsors of this exciting event once again. Marine leisure in Ireland is gathering pace year on year and is one of most rapidly expanding sectors in the entertainment and sports industries in Ireland. With its audience unfolding to reveal an increasingly vast and varied demographic by virtue of its increasing accessibility to all, it is very encouraging that pioneers in the marine financing industry in Ireland, Lombard, are continuing to drive this growth through their support.” The Irish Marine Federation (IMF) is the national organisation representing both Commercial and Leisure sectors of the Marine Industry in Ireland. Organising Boat Shows enables the IMF to promote the image of the industry. For further information on the event including show Health & Safety conditions see www.dublinboatshow.com.
