Powerboat developments gather pace

2nd May 2008

The Irish Sailing Association has agreed to adopt the role of record-keeper for all Irish powerboating records.

Following Afloat's report on the current record holders, Mike Shanahan and Philip Fitzgibbon, questions were raised about just who was in control of the record-keeping and accepting challenges.

ISA Motorboat Development Officer, Denis Dillon, has now stepped into that role.

The ISA is drawing up rules for the variety of Powerboat challenges that exist, and will be the guardian of powerboat records going forward.

Six powerboats are now affiliated with the ISA, with the country's first PWC (Personal Watercraft) club also recently having affiliated.
