All smiles at Mills with Howth win

19th May 2008

It was all smiles at the Kilbride offices of Mark Mills designs when Mariners Cove took the silverware in Howth at the weekend.

The Mills team were quick to issue a press release, deservedly trumpeting their latest coup in an increasingly competitive IRC fleet in Irelan and the UK.

'David Dwyer’s IRC 39 Mariners Cove won the Saab IRC Irish National Championships this weekend from what may be the most competitive field of IRC 40’ers assembled anywhere this year,' the release read.

'In a class comprised mainly of Commodores Cup contenders both custom and production her victory proves the competitiveness of this design across the range of light and medium conditions which dominated the Howth YC run event.

'Blondie IV the first King 40 owned by Eamonn Rohan came third and won the event under the Irish Echo system.

It may be a case of blowing one's own trumpet, but in this case it seems they have good reason. Mills are earning a reputation for turning out exceedingly quick racing yachts, and having seen Blondie sitting pretty alongside the Royal Irish last week, we have to admit they look the part too.

Congratulations to the entire team.
