Poolbeg launch enquiry into race death

Poolbeg Yacht and Boat Club has announced it is to carry out an inquiry in to the death of a crewman that occurred during its annual Sean Whiston race at the weekend.

The sailor has yet to be named but coastguard sources say the accident victim was a 46 year old male who fell in to the water near Bray head.

The incident is now also the subject of enquiry of the Marine Casualty investigation Board (MCIB)

Last night the Dublin based club issued a statement on its website extending its deepest sympathy. The notice is here
