After two days of intense match racing in both light and fresh conditions the Royal Cork sailor emerged as winner of the National Match Racing Championships sailed out of the Royal St George in the ISA Sailfleet J80s. After nine round robin races Nin emerged with eight wins and went onto sail against John Sheehy representing the host club in the final. The final was a keenly fought match with Nin OLeary claiming a 2-0 win over John Sheehy and the title.
O'Leary will compete in the SB3 worlds, starting next Monday in the National Yacht Club, and will be one of Ireland's top hopes in a class that is currently dominated by British sailors.
The standard of the racing was high and this was matched by Brian Craig and the hard working team onboard Concerto, and Ailbe Millerick's team of on the water umpires.
