Michael Maher qualified for the quarter-finals of the lightweight single scull at the World Under-23 Championships in Racice in the Czech Republic this morning. The Commercial athlete led for most of his heat, but finished second of the three qualifiers when he was caught in the final stages by Nikalaos Afentoulis of Greece.
