Competitors announced for All Ireland Sailing Championship

2nd October 2008

24 competitors will compete in the ISA All Ireland Sailing Championship 2008 hosted tomorrow in Howth Yacht Club if north-westerly gales subside.

Ireland's 'premier domestic invitation sailing event' is proudly sponsored by Euro Car Parks and will see the best of Irish sailors compete to be crowned the ISA All Ireland Sailing Champion 2008.

The competitors, who will race in the ISA SailFleet J80 keelboats, were announced by ISA Racing Manager Ed Alcock.

“Stefan Hyde will be keen to defend his title; however the 2007 Champion will have strong competition across the fleet. This includes sailors of the calibre of Timothy Goodbody and Peter O'Leary, fresh from their Olympic Regatta. In fact Peter’s name is already on the trophy as he won the championship in 2006.”

Alcock continued: “The J80’s will be raced with a crew of three. The invited competitors are therefore choosing their best team available making this weekend a showcase of Irish talent on the waters off Howth.”
