The OCI will sit in Howth on Saturday to hear arguments from Max Treacy and Anthony Shanks (flanked by a legal team comprising two solicitors, a junior counsel and a senior counsel) on why they, not Peter O'Leary and Stephen Milne, should be the Irish nominees for the Olympic games.
The ISA will also be present to defend their decision to send the younger team, despite their lower ranking and lower finishing position in the World Championships during which Treacy & Shanks qualified the country.
The decision was a subjective one, which the ISA claim they were entitled to make under the stipulations in their nomination policy.
Since the appeal has been lodged, team O'Leary/Milne have raced both the Delta Lloyd regatta in Medemblik and the Eastern Hemisphere Championships in Croatia, while team Treacy/Shanks have not been on the international circuit at all.
Boats belonging to both teams have been shipped to China, says the ISA. It's now a simple matter of writing a name on the ticket to Beijing.
