By 4pm today (Wednesday) there was still no word in spite of indications earlier this week that Wednesday was 'D' day. It is now over six weeks since the original nomination of Peter O'Leary and Steven Milne was announced and appealed.
O'Leary and Milne will hear the news in China having flown there on Monday while appellants Max Treacy and Anthony Shanks are in Dublin for the announcement that is now unlikely to occur until Friday afternoon.
The OCI tribunal will be making no media comment according to its spokesman this afternoon. The ISA and the sailors have also been asked not to comment.
The mechanics are such that the OCI will only give a three-line 'unreasoned reply' to the ISA stating who they should nominate. The OCI will inform all three parties simultaneously.
Any further appeal of the decision can be made directly to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The July/August issue of Afloat to be published June 30th includes a feature on the Irish team for Qingdao. The 16–page piece profiles the four boats including up to the minute news on the Star selection process.
