Nomination call for boat of the year

6th November 2008

The sixth ICRA Annual Conference will be held in the Sheraton on Saturday, 29th November 2008 where the ICRA boat of the year will be announced. The principal speaker this year will be Bill Gladstone of North sails. Bill is the Director of North U and author of the North U Racing Tactics and Trim books and CDs. He is a renowned lecturer and has been teaching sailing and racing for over 30 years.

Bill will give two presentations, one before lunch around 11.30 and the other in the afternoon around 15.00 It will be well worth your while coming to Athlone to hear and to meet with Bill. Bill is from the US so in addition to the main topics of his presentations the hope to hear his views on cruiser racing in the States generally and, for instance how IRC is doing there in its battle with the home product ORR. If we get more details on the topics of the presentations we will circulate them with the final agenda. Our own resident guru, Mark Mills will be in attendance again this year and will lead a discussion on whatever you want to discuss but in particular will share some of his unparalled insight into matters IRC. The Hotel is offering very attractive accommodation packages for delegates

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
