ICRA's top prize awarded jointly

1st December 2008

The high point of ICRA's national conference on Saturday heard of a split decision after judges for the boat of the year award conceded they could not separate the achievements of Rosie (Roy Dickson) or Mariner's Cove (Dave Dwyer). In spite of massive support for both Kinetic (Neil Spain) and Ireland West (Aodhan Fitzgerald) in last week's afloat.ie poll judges instead favoured the achievements of the Cork and Howth boat. It was the first time ICRA's boat of the year prize has been awarded jointly. Rosie took first in the British IRC class II, first at Cork week Class II, first in the Scottish series class II. Mariner’s Cove also had wins at home and abroad taking victory in the Scottish series, the ICRA Nationals in Howth and in Cork.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven’t put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full–time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
