Royal Western to compete in New York

Is Ger O'Rourke's participation in the Volvo Ocean Race not good enough for them? Now other members of the ‘Royal Western Yacht Club of Ireland’ have confirmed their participation in the Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge set for Manhattan Sailing Club, New York Harbour, taking place the 19th – 22nd August 2009.


The Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge is an invitational amateur regatta designed to promote international goodwill through friendly competition. Clubs are encouraged to bring both a racing team and a social team.  The number of other teams which have expressed interest has now increased to eighteen, teams from all around the world have expressed interest in competing - teams that have expressed interest at this stage are from Canada, Monaco, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Caribbean, Venezuela, United States, Argentina Italy, Scotland, Australia, Ireland and Germany.
