Dublin Bay Sailing Club's 125th season kicks off

Dinghy sailor Francis Rowan won the first Fireball race of the new Dublin Bay season in an afternoon that promised much rain but delivered sunshine instead. Inspite of the gloomy forecast the first race of Dublin Port sponsored Dublin Bay Sailing Club's 125th season was held successfully in medium North Easterly winds. There were tight spinnaker reaches across the Bay for most of the keelboat classes. Racing was preceded by a J109 training session in Scotsmans bay held by Dun Laoghaire firm Boyd Boats. These boats got the worst of the noon downpour but by start time the entire fleet was greeted to sunshine for the first race of the summer season. Not all classes published results though and the Dragon class was almost becalmed from its starting position at the back of the East Pier. Full results below the fold:
