On the water next week...

The momentum is building on the sailing scene with many clubs organising events - like the Captain's Trophy Race from Dun Laoghaire to Aklow to mention but one, while in rowing there's the Tuskar Run and Sligo Rowing Club Regatta, canoeing in the form a series of one-day kayaking trips , and lots of angling to be done.

Sailing
2nd–4th May – Opening Cruising Muster, Oysterhaven and Kinsale, RCYC
9th May – Captain's Trophy Race, Dun Laoghaire to Arklow (RAYC Day Race)
9th–10th May – Mitsubishi Youth Championships, National YC

Rowing
3rd May – Tusker Run, Kilrane, Rosslare Harbour. Irish Coastal Rowing Federation

Canoeing
10th May – The Irish Canoe Union will be running a series of one day kayaking river trips throughout the spring and summer months from its Training Centre on the Strawberry Beds, Chapelizod. For further details contact [email protected] or [email protected]

Angling
2nd May – Munster area Valentia Open
2nd May – Ulster area Species Competition, Killybegs, 9am–4pm
9th May – Connaught area Findlater/Shalimar/Interprovincial, Newport, Clew Bay
10th May – Connaught area Cos Fhairraige/Carna SAC, open shore 1–5pm, Gurteen
10th May – Leinster area Raheny SAC, Wicklow, time TBA

Other
10th May – Blessing of Boats, 12 noon, Poolbeg YBC
