Kinsella's Bendemeer is bay winner

9th May 2009

'Bendemeer' skippered by Gerald Kinsella of the Royal St. George YC proved the best performer in class two picking up both ECHO handicap and IRC honours in this afternoon's Dublin Port sponsored Dublin Bay Sailing Club series. With Westerly winds gusting up to 35 knots early this morning there was more than a few who thought that racing would be blown out. By first gun however ideal sailing conditions prevailed, providing testing 15-20 knot breezes for both cruiser and dinghy courses.

J. Nicholson's Red Rhum was second to Kinsella on IRC and third was Cor Baby, Keith Kiernan and Vincent Lattimore's Royal Irtish entry.
A strong turn out of Squibs and Flying Fifteens - up to 12 per fleet - enjoyed close racing in Seapoint bay though offshore winds were shfitng through 20 degrees close to the shore. It was no obstacle for Flying fifteen national champions David Gorman and Chris Doorly of the National YC who scored 1 and 2 in the double header day. Full results below:
