Race 2 in the Tuesday series 1 was blown out due to excessive winds, 30knt gusts were measured at the marina before racing was abandoned.
Along with a new Commodore for HYC this year (Congratulations to Peter McKenna) a new class Captain, Suzanne Carroll and a new measuring committee for the pups were elected. The measuring committee (pictured) comprises of David Clarke, Neil Murphy & Gerry Kenney and they have wasted no time this year in focusing on a comprehensive system for assessment of all pups boats in the fleet, to attain a measurement certificate for each Puppeteer.
On the racing front, not only will the pups race every Tuesday & Saturday, they look forward also to the HYC Lambay Regatta, Club Windward Leeward Races over four Saturdays, the single handed race and the ladies race.
The premier event this year for pups will be the national championships which takes place over 3 days. Commencing Friday evening, 24th July to Sunday 25th July.

One of the eagerly awaited events proposed by the Howth Sailing Committee is to arrange an “intra-club championships” where each fleet in HYC will put forward one racing crew so the “champion of Champions” in HYC can be found. Racing will be onboard the ISA J80’s fleet. It is proposed that the crew to go forward to represent the pups will be based on results from series 1, 2009.
